1. Scope
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect personal information when you use Xplorr's apps, sites, and services (the "Service"). This Policy applies to users globally unless superseded by jurisdiction‑specific notices.
2. Information We Collect
Account & Profile: name, username, email, password (hashed), profile photo, bio; consent/version metadata for Terms/Policy acceptance.
User Content: photos, videos, captions, comments, likes, and any QR codes or links you include. Content may reveal your location via visible landmarks, text, embedded metadata (e.g., EXIF), or scannable codes.
Location Data (optional): coarse or precise location if you enable location features or attach location to content. You can disable device location permissions at any time in settings, but location can still be inferred from what you post.
Planner & Travel Signals: destinations you view or save; preferred dates/budgets; airports; hotels/activities you click; and booking referral events returned by partners for attribution.
Usage & Device Data: app interactions, pages viewed, device type, OS, app version, unique identifiers, crash logs, diagnostics, and performance data.
Advertising & Identifiers: device/app identifiers, ad measurement data, interests inferred from activity, and ATT/consent status when applicable.
Contacts (optional): if you opt in to find friends, we may process hashed contact identifiers as permitted by platform policies.
Cookies/Similar Tech (web): cookies or similar technologies for functionality, analytics, and (with consent where required) advertising.
3. How We Use Information
- Provide, maintain, and improve the Service and features (including AR/geo features, QR code navigation, and safety tools).
- Generate and personalize itineraries (flights, hotels, restaurants, activities) using AI and partner data; remember your preferences to improve recommendations.
- Advertising & measurement: show ads, including interest‑based ads (subject to permissions/consent); measure performance; limit frequency; and prevent fraud.
- Facilitate social features (follows, comments, likes) and discoverability.
- Communicate with you about updates, security, support; send marketing with consent/opt‑out options.
- Monitor and enforce safety, security, legal compliance, and anti‑fraud measures.
- Measure performance, perform analytics, and develop new products.
4. Legal Bases (GDPR)
Where the GDPR applies, we rely on: (i) contract (to provide the Service and itineraries), (ii) legitimate interests (security, analytics, product improvement), (iii) consent (e.g., precise location, interest‑based advertising/ATT, contacts import, marketing), and (iv) legal obligation.
5. Sharing of Information
Service Providers: cloud hosting, analytics, moderation, customer support, and other processors under contract.
Other Users: content you share publicly or with followers is visible to others as configured. Be aware that location in content or QR codes may be re‑shared by others.
Travel Partners/Affiliates: when you click through or book via third parties, they process your data under their policies; we may receive attribution/referral information (e.g., click ID, conversion event) to confirm a booking and calculate commissions.
Advertising & Analytics Partners: subject to your permissions/consent, we may share limited data (e.g., identifiers, approximate location, interests inferred from activity) to deliver and measure interest‑based ads and to prevent fraud. You can control tracking via platform settings (e.g., ATT on iOS) and in‑app preferences where offered.
Legal & Safety: to comply with law, enforce terms, protect rights, property, and safety, or in the event of a merger, acquisition, or asset sale.
6. Your Choices & Rights
Access/Rectify/Delete: request access, correction, or deletion of your personal data (subject to legal exceptions).
Marketing Opt‑Out: unsubscribe from marketing emails; adjust notification settings in app.
Location Controls: enable/disable device location permissions; choose whether to attach location to posts; remove EXIF before upload if desired.
QR Codes & Discoverability: avoid including scannable codes if you do not wish to disclose precise locations; delete posts to remove codes from your profile (copies may persist with others as described below).
Ads & Tracking: on iOS you can allow/deny tracking via App Tracking Transparency (ATT); on Android/web you can reset/limit ad identifiers. Where required by law, we provide controls to opt out of sale/share of personal information used for targeted advertising.
GDPR Rights: object, restrict processing, portability, and withdraw consent. Contact us at JRogers@xplorr.live to exercise rights; we may verify your identity.
7. Data Retention
We retain information as long as necessary to provide the Service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. Backups and logs may persist for a short period after deletion. Note that content you shared publicly (including location cues or QR codes) may remain available if others have copied or re‑shared it.
8. Children's Privacy
Xplorr is not directed to children under 13 (or older if required by local law). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided data, contact us to delete it.
9. International Data Transfers
We may transfer, store, and process information in countries outside your own. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses and conduct transfer risk assessments.
10. Security
We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect personal data. However, no system is perfectly secure; use the Service at your own risk and keep your credentials safe.
11. Third‑Party Sites & Services
The Service may link to or integrate with third‑party apps and websites. Their privacy policies govern their practices; review them carefully.
12. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy. We will post changes with an updated "Effective date." If changes materially affect your rights, we will provide additional notice as required by law.
